Red "Limited Edition" VCI-100
Posted on: 25.05.2009 by Laraine Arceo
Hey guys!
I was looking at purchasing the VCI-100 and I found that someone was selling a red VCI-100;

From the ad;

"Bought in Japan 7 months ago, limited edition only sold in Asia and the USA."

I've been googling like crazy but I can't find any info on any red VCI-100's being released... anyone?

sounds like a waste of money. who knows how much wear and tear is on the unit. not worth the risk...

if you had red plates and jogs on top of a black overlay (who knows, it could work!) with black faders and knobs that would look completely sick.

Found a picture of the blue version as well! Now this feels a lot better.

I know this is the wrong place to say this but now I'm choosing between the VCI-100 with an external card, and the Numark Omni I just don't know the factual difference...

The untit doesn't seem to have a lot of wear.
I've bought an ex-demo djm909 3,5 years ago, still no issues.

Buying 2nd hand is always a bit of a gamble though.

So it's an old demo unit, huh? Doesn't sound too stable to me, though she says she has the original box with instructions (in japanese) and that they released a similar limited edition that's light blue instead of red. Apparently the touch plate LEDs are blue, and red when touched.

Sounds a wee bit fishy to me, and I don't believe I'm gonna trust a 2 year old demo unit to do the job for me!

Does nobody remember the NAMM demo units showing off of the red and blue looks? I thought they were Japan only, but they are legit. Go back two years and look at the NAMM coverage from Vestax.

When I brought my VCI vestax where advertising these colored faceplates on the website. Ive not heard of them selling the VCI with these pre installed, so I doubt the "limited edition" sell is true.

Edit: Though if it has blue LEDs it is limited edition I guess..

Yeah I believe it looks like balls (apparently the LEDs are blue but when activated they turn red... ughhhh...), but the price is way down since it's used so I'm not too far away from what I'd shell out for a Numark Omni since that's what I've been looking at all day...

Looks or useability? I'd need a new soundcard as well, that's an extra buck or two...

Edit: I'm off to bed, but one more thing... is it possible to change the faceplate of the unit? That red color looks awful, if I could just replace the faceplate (or if it's colored, put on vinyl) that would be great, but I don't believe I could change the look of the jogwheels... right?

hmm looks pretty hott. i'd like it better with black panels instead of red
