Produce own Hip-Hop as a hobby, bought a TT and Torq vinyl, got questions... I wanted to add scratching to my music, so I set out to get a used TT on eBay (my first mistake). Anyway I never touched a TT in my life so... I also have a copy of Deckadance, a macbook pro, and a firestudio mobile by presonus for a while with akai keys n pads. I ordered torq vinyl and it hasn't come yet. I got a Vestax PDX-A2, I wanted to save money but still fell ripped of as I paid $100 for it - is that a bad deal? it's rather beat up. I was told then that I need a phono pre-amp to get the signal higher - again not familiar with TT's. Anyway I use a Presonus FireStudio Mobile and asked the guy if i can hook the table directly up to it using an RCA to 1/4" converter. He said no "because the firestudio mobile" doesn't have a ground. I'm always skeptical as to anything that leaves a GC employee's mouth. Is this true? Could I damage my Presonus interface? Also, how do i get the hum out of the signal? I see theres a ground on the table but not sure what to ground it to... Was $100 a ripoff for a Vestax PDX-A2 in fair condition that (supposedly) works? | |
