Reply to pioneer 900/2000s with external hard drive

Im going to play at a party soon with 900s or 2000s there and was wondering if anyone has used a powered hard disk with these. Is there any issues as its going to be a all day and evening event.

I know people say usb sticks are better but being as the length of the party I need a whole backlog of stuff as well as current as you never know what the mood takes and I always DJ spontaneously to suit the mood/crowd.
