Need Help setting up Wiimote to WiitoMIDI for mac
Need Help setting up Wiimote to WiitoMIDI for mac Posted on: 29.11.2010 by Janyce Jardon Hey guys... so im usually really good with this sort of thing, midi mapping and all that...I have a wii and have seen other people use their wiimotes as midi controllers and i thought this was really interesting so i decided to check it out... so i looked it up and found a website that distributes a free open source program that converts wii messages to Midi messages on mac... mike.verdone.ca/wiitomidi/ So basically, i have managed to get my bluetooth to find the Wiimote, I have configured my Audio and MIDI settings as per the Readme file, the remote says its connected in bluetooth, but the program wont recognise it... i looked at all the help/readme/FAQ's on the site... even tried googling my problem and couldnt find anything... If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated P.S. I am not sure if this is normal... but everytime i want to try connect my Wiimote Via bluetooth, i have to open the back panel and press the sync button or it wont work, and once connected, the 4 blue lights keep on flashing... dont know if this has anything to do with the problem | |

Janyce Jardon 29.11.2010 | i was believeing about getting osculator... looks like you can do some interesting things with it... i was believeing eventually getting an iPad and putting touchOSC on it and then getting osculator as the translator... so id basically have a lemur for a quater of the price... and more portable and multifunctioned :P might have to wait a bit though because i just blew all my cash on a VCI arcade edition... totally worth it though... cant wait till it arrives!! woop woop!!! |
Lamonica Basenberg 29.11.2010 | For the Wiimotes i use the Oscutlator on my mac, it works perfect it's cheap and worth the money! i've been using Trakto Scratch Pro + Osculator + Wiimotes without issues! |
Janyce Jardon 29.11.2010 | just rebooted my mac... and it worked first go! woohoo!! now im waving my arms around like an idiot with the wiimote set to control fx paramaters in traktor... thx mate!!! |
Annalisa Shogren 29.11.2010 | Erm... Try a re-start! Beyond that I can't really help, hopefully someone else can though! |
Janyce Jardon 29.11.2010 | yeah i had a look in traktor to see if anything came up by chance, no luck, the problem is... that being just connected via bluetooth doesnt make the wiimote MIDI compatible. you need to connect it and map it through the WiitoMIDI software before the controls can be recognised and mapped as midi messages... and thats where my problem is. I can connect it to the bluetooth, but not to the conversion software |
Annalisa Shogren 29.11.2010 | Have you gone into Traktors preferences and tried manually adding it yourself? |
Janyce Jardon 29.11.2010 | yea i was intending on using it with traktor scratch pro... But since it wont even connect to the program that converts the messages from the Wii to MIDI, i cant assign the MIDI CC's to the Wiimote's controls let alone start mapping anything in traktor |
Annalisa Shogren 29.11.2010 | You're using Traktor yeah? |
