s, I got a problem. I got my techs yesterday and picked up my m447s, but it's being a bit odd on my record. Ive never used tts before, but my height is set at 0 the arm is balanced and is floating, anti skate is set at 0. The needle sits flush with the headshell. My balance is not backwards and the traking force is set at 2.5. When I put the needle on the record, you can hear like a scraping noise and the audio is choppy and staticy. Btw record is ub40 labour of love seriously though, help me out. Thanks! | |

Dona Miarecki 01.12.2010 | This has been a evening
mare. I just got a hold of panasonics customer service, which was absolutely no help, and a waste of an hour. Im just going to return them, heres the link to the bad audio..... http://soundcloud.com/super-sanj/serato-recording-1 |
Jutta Safdari 25.11.2010 | my apologies... haven't seen a new set in a long time now... just out of curiosity, how come u bought them brand new and not second hand? I ask since these tt's last a lifetime really and u would have saved quite a bit Well, take them to your local dj shop or technics repairer and see what they have to say... |
Dona Miarecki 25.11.2010 | I bought them new, as in ordered them from b&h and had them shipped. I bought m447s from gc. Been super busy with school |
Jutta Safdari 25.11.2010 | i know you just bought them second hand.. trying to find a solution on these community
s wont help much... i reckon you take them to someone who knows about turntables... IMO it could be the tonearm/cartridge/stylus/ a host of other things.... There is a known issue with Grado carts..possibly urs could be affected too? Did they work fine when you bought them? Take them back to the guy you bought them from maybe? |
Patti Farneth 20.11.2010 | ho w old are you 1200s? I had this problem before. I had a rave to do in the Sierra mountains and I had my decks in the back of my truck. The bouncing cause the tone are to losen up and some bearings actually came out of the tomearm. I adjusted and loosened the screw on the very top on that tone arm and it worked fine after that. |
Teresia Janusch 17.11.2010 | can you record a sample of the 'noise'? |
Milda Poucher 16.11.2010 | Set the tracking higher. See if that solves it. I had this problem. Sometimes I would get distortion at particular points on different vinyl and I believe it was that the needle wasn't sitting on it correctly. |
Dona Miarecki 16.11.2010 | i tried that as well, but i just realized that it was always my right tt. so after further inspection, bot the needles are fine, but its just the right tt making the noise. what could it be? i bought the tts new so idk. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! im super stressed out, i dropped all this cash and this thing is being stubborn. AHHHHHHH |
Brunilda Kora 16.11.2010 | Best thing to do is take both headshells of the tonearm, strip 'em down, and re-build 'em. Clean up the connections on the headshell, and take a look at the wires between the cart and the headshell. Could even be that you've got one of the wires incorrectly connected (the 4 coloured wires have to go to specific connections on the headshell). |
Dona Miarecki 15.11.2010 | sorry for the late reply. I tried balancing the arms again, one of them worked. tried another record, worked with the same one but not with the other. I took the cart from the working one to the non working one, and still, audio is distorted. what could it be? is it possible i balanced the arm wrong? I looked in the sockets, but they look brand new. Not a surprise as i bought them new lol. I also moved the "bad" cart to the working table and it sounded a little distorted. could it be the needle? I bought them both new |
Teresia Janusch 14.11.2010 | is the tracking force for the m447's deffo 2.5g? were the carts new or 2nd hand? Stylus could need replaced. I'm guessing you bought two, have you tried them both? It would also be worth taking the headshell off the tonearm and looking into the socket, do the brass contacts appear dark? if so theres a buildup of mild corrosion, a wee scrape with a fine screwdriver will sort it |
Leeanna Ayla 13.11.2010 | Dude needs a haircut. |
Ninfa Larranaga 13.11.2010 | make sure u follow this first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDRQfnQfb4w |
Theodora Guisasola 13.11.2010 | Have you tried using another record? |
Dona Miarecki 12.11.2010 | Yea, on the back of the one dx there's a post for the ground wires. I put em both there |
Annalisa Shogren 12.11.2010 | Might be a stupid question, but have you grounded it properly? |
