Can I use a 1N4007 instead?
Can I use a 1N4007 instead? Posted on: 09.08.2010 by Jessika Kienast Got a pack of 1N4001, then felt that they were kind of dodgy looking since half of them had the markings half off and the entire bunch was mixed with other values. Went to another shop and the lady insisted that 1N4007 was alright. I didn't argue since someone else was paying for it and it only costed a few bucks (in my currency). Can they be used or must it be 1N4001. Is the higher tolerance of the 1N4007 detrimental in this situation? | |

Chantal Harabedian 21.12.2010 | Ok Thanks a lot. I dont know yet whar ill be able to find in my shop, i saw in ean's video in the diods box, It's 1N3600. Could it be ok? |
Leeanna Ayla 20.12.2010 | 4007 or 4001. Phil siad above that 4007 was the better choice and i would be inclined to trust whatever Phil says, even though he's been AWOL for some time. |
Chantal Harabedian 20.12.2010 | which choice is the best? 1N4007, 4001, 1N3600, 4150? am a little bit lost in diodes ^^ |
Jessika Kienast 09.08.2010 | Thanks, Phil. I feel better already. ps. By the way, it's the 1N4001s which are more difficult to find over here. Perhaps it's those Chinks who're buying them by the millions for counterfeit goods. pps. I'm a Chink. |
Corine Kasman 09.08.2010 | The 1N4007 is actually a better choice, but the 1N4001 is easier to find. You will be good with those. Phil. |
