MAckie d2.pro
Well, I just got one of the factory reconditioned MAckie d2.pro
from PSSL. I am pleased to say this was an awesome 400 bucks.

There was a small scratch on the case, the channel fader paddle
needed to be pushed in. Other than that it is sparkling.

Function:
This unit is super wise, it sends audio from the mixer PreEQ, meaning
any non hardware bound Timecode will work, Torq, Ms Pinky, Deckadance.
It has a firewire return loop, so you can use VST/AU effects from a DAW.

Use Case:
I have gone ahead and created an Aggregate Device with the Korg Zero4
and Mackie D2.pro. I then use JackOSX to hijack the Aggregate. I then
can route audio to any Mackie Channel, or any Korg Channel. I can take
input from the korg and deliver Pre-EQ/Pre-Fader to the Mackie. I can
take the MAster out of Ableton and deliver it to the return on the MAckie.
I can in theory run 6 timecode decks, physically. I can also take any audio
signal IN the mackie and route it to the DAW not through the mixer.

Observation:

Nice metal build
Traktor Scratch approved, tested works.
Firewire 13x6 interface, tested works.
Firewire daisy chain to Korg Zero 4 works (WARNING)
Excellent headroom

Notes:
The FX return from Firewire runs VERY VERY VERY loud.
At very low latency (128 samples) there can be a spike that travels through
master, not isolated on a channel, i believe it correlates with a CPU spike.
Works perfectly with JackOSX

Issue:
I have found that when using the mackie with the korg daisy chained on firewire bus, sometimes the Midi from the Korg breaks. I have isolated this
to the Audio/Midi Window. I can correct the problem with a rescan of the
MIDI bus. However to make it work all the time unfortunately i had to
actually disable MIDI In on Ableton for the D2.Pro. I can sometimes get
both to work, but definately there is some issue. This issue is likely to
NEVER be resolved. I might use midipipe or something to aggregate
the midi so apps have no direct access to the hardware, this I need to test.

Conclusion:
I am pleased, i have an excellent battle surface, maximum flexibility and
Traktor Scratch approved on two mixers with 1 firewire bus.
