What controller should I choose?
Posted on: 14.01.2011 by Tamra Sundell
Hi,

I saw some news about a new Mixvibes DJ controller: http://www.mixvibes.com/en/content/namm-2011 would anyone by any chance know what it is like? Apparently it has been presented in a tradeshow in the states, has anyone been there and tried the product? I was believeing about purchasing a new controller, I do not know what to look for.

Thanks for your help!

^^They have stopped production, but dude, this community is made up mostly of people that use and stand by this controller. Aside from the S4, it's the best DJ controller on the market right now. It's built to last and has GREAT mappings and support provided by this site. I really believe this is the best decision for you man...Granted I haven't had any hands-on experience with that mixvibes controller, but from that video it looks like crappy quality to me. A piece of Dj gear is an investment, and you want something that will last.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi, the Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 seems nice, the korg nanopad and nano Kontrol also. But somehow i am more looking into an all in one unit (dj controller, sound card...). Thanks a lot for the info!

Hi thanks to all of you for the info, have had to take some time to do some research on the internet to see what controller fits my neads. And here are the facts:

Facts:

VCI-100
It really sounds like a great controller. If i am correct i have read that they have stopped the production of the VCI-100, i believe i will forget about that controller.

VCI-300
The VCI-300 looks great but is way over my budget!

Mixvibes U-Mix Controle Pro
The Mixvibes controller seams really great, have been reading a lot about it. And it sounds really like a great small but very efficient controller. Somehow i believe it will really fit my needs. Even scratchworks editors like the controller!

It also appears from what i have been reading, that mixvibes products are really well built.

Do you believe i am doing the right choise?

Thanks guys.

dude if i were you I'd just save up for a VCI-100 SE, it's worth it, you don't wanna spend 350-400 on something thats gonna crap out on you... the only controller that has been proven to be reliable is the VCI-100. Not to mention it has a giant community of users.

VCI-100 is in the 400$ range. But you might also want a sound card. Extra 100$ minimum.

The VCI-100 is slightely above my budget ! Do you know how much the U-Mix Control Pro will cost Jiel. I liked the video, the product looks nice all in all. Have you tried it ? Is it a good product ?

Hi,

Thanks for the info, how much is the VCI-100 worth, my budget is anywhere from 100 to 400 dollards, would i be able to get a VCI-100 for that price ?

yeah dude ya gotta go with the VCI-100 SE, it has proven to be the most reliable//innovative/efficient controller there is. I honestly debated what kind of DJ gear to buy for 4 months straight, and after all that time, the conclusion was ultimately that the VCI-100SE (arcade) was the clear-cut choice. It's only been around for a few years, but I believe you could call it the "Technics" of controllers, relatively speaking. They've stood the test of time (so far).

Arcade buttons or not, the VCI-100SE is clearly the best choice

IMO, the VCI is the best choice. if you can afford it, go for it. it's worth it...

Hi,

Thanks to all of you for the responses. I still have some questions:

@ Dj Dynasty, will be taking a closer look into: the VCI, the numark total control and the hercules. Have you tried any of those, and if so how do you feel about these controllers ? Which one would you recommend ?

@ djgoku, thanks for the video, have you been to the show in the states, have you tried the mixvibes controller, and if so what's it like ?

i thought it was kinda cool too. touch sensitive platters and knobs for fx for use in traktor. the close ups in the video made it kinda look a little cheep though.

from personal experience Mixvibes Sucks! don't even believe about getting anything like that... How about you try the VCIs Dennons Numark total controll.... Hecules.... They all have good controllers in the 300$ rangge.

Hi there

I have found 2 videos about the new mixvibes controller :

the first is an official video from mixvibes :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZeMHFypGyg

the second is a coverage from audiofanzine @ NAMM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy2-h...feature=autofb

I hope this will help

Do not buy a mixvibes anything. It's decent software with decent controllers. I'd use deckadance or VDJ before I used this sadly.

I would consider Traktor LE which is packaged with most controllers nowadays, or even VDJ that is packaged with the other 1/2 of the controllers.
