maybe a good test would be to upload a 1hr mix of different sounding farts while fulfilling the rest of the criteria. if the fart mix wins then you might have a point, but given the context of the contest I don't see where the facebook friends is taken into consideration.
I dont believe fullenglish was being literal with the facebook comment. Although this comment in the judging criteria kind of proves his point!!! dont you believe??!!

Judging Criteria

1. Using the Links app point us to your other spaces online, including social networks and blogs.

Looks like the winner will be the person with the most social networking profiles!!!

Nothing actually referring to the quality of your mix...

I don't generally flame for no reason.

I believe this should be renamed to "The Great Big Pioneer Facebook Contest".

We are looking to award the person that demonstrates a strong understanding of digital culture
How the fcuk does being able to post backlinks and having a facebook page make you understand digital culture? and more to the point Digital DJing ?

The thing is I DO understand in depth the technologies behind the majority of social networking sites....which as a result this prevents me from qualifying.

12year old girls to 60 year old grannies "can use" Facebook and promote themselves on it .. do they demonstrate an understanding of digital culture ?

What happened to the days when a good mix is all you had to do to win stuff, now its all about pimping yous self out

I once got a phone call from a promoter about a mix cd of mine he came across but when he asked me if I was on face fuck and I told him no he didn't want to know because I wasn't premoting my self

I run a business and just don't have the time to make demos never mind pissing about on face book

Sounds great, the judging criteria have nothing to do with your mix and everything to do with how many facebook friends you have. Mix competitions are becoming just like the top 40!
