S4 vs VCI-100

S4 vs VCI-100

I have been seeing a lot of vci-100 for under 300 lately, as well as a Focusrite Saffire 6 soundcard for pretty cheap.

With the new traktor 2 coming out in april, what are people's thoughts on this kind of a set-up or just wait and save and get the S4?

I agree with you about the mixing, I currently have the mixdeck, which is one of the cheaper decks, but it has been great since I re-mapped everything, I'm just running out out buttons, hence why I was looking into the other two.

I just like the idea of having one controller, and with the new loop deck, i was not sure if the vci-100 would have enough space. I have a buddy with the s4, and I have used it a couple of times and it seems great, a tad large but it has everything you need for all the function of traktor .

Thanks for your input.

Here is a mix I did last week.

The S4 or the VCI-100 will not make you any better at mixing.

If your mixing 4 decks at once the S4 can handle that it also has a built-in soundcard so that could be good or bad.

One good thing is that it will come with a free traktor 2 upgrade.

But I believe its gunna be under 100 bucks for the upgrade to TSP2 so getting the S4 solely for TSP2 might not be the best money saving option.

VCI-100 still does what it did before the S4 came out and will do the same when S5 S6 and S7 come out.

If your tight for cash I'd get something cheaper. It doesnt matter what you use if you dont know why you want to use it. Following the trends will just put you in the hole.

Take whatever your using now and go for a nice mix session and see what it is you do and dont do and the reasoning behind both and you might find the answer yourself
