Aggregate Audio 2 dj with a Audio 6?

Is it possible and how is the overall stability when aggregating soundcards? I'm a Mac user.

Nothing to do with power, it's the amount of data being transferred. Might be fine!

each program individually selects its soundcard so yes that should be fine, only problem I can foresee is driving up latency by using 2 soundcards on 1 USB port.

truth is, NI interfaces are very very good, but still.. one should be able to use, for instance, an aggregate device consisting of 2 NI interfaces. or something else, if he/she owns the software. but well, you know what happens in practice, and can figure out the rest.
last i checked, though, naming the aggregate device audio 8 dj enables the timecodes on the licenced version, but that was some time ago. anyone care to try it?

Well...there was only one version that I know of that could be used for DVS without the Audio card or Certified mixer.

This is what he was referring to I guess.

Well, I was under the impression that Timecode would only work with an NI soundcard or certified mixer, and that using an aggregate or other 3rd party device would disable the timecode function.

I just did a little digging and I remembered this 'Traktor Scratch Poor' thread from a while back. That led me to this post on the NI community s where no one seemed to be able to agree on whether or not it was possible. Certainly in the past there has been a hardware lock on the timecode function, but some people seem to be able to get other soundcards to work while others had problems. Those threads were back before even TP 1.2 came out, so to be completely honest I don't know what the situation is now.

I apologise if I got this wrong, but my judgment was based on the fact that while I once tried to aggregate my Audio 8 with another soundcard and timecode stopped working on my legal copy, a guy I know uses a cracked copy of TSP with an M-Audio Torq soundcard and it works fine...

So now I have no idea what the situation is, nor whether or not using cracked software enables 3rd party soundcards.

No idea what the legal status of that is!

I just wanted to make the point that timecode isn't going to work in that setup case people were trying it and wondering why not.

Well it seems to be running fine when having my built-in soundcard running ableton and traktor audio 2 dj, guess I will grab the audio 6

To be honest I believe it also goes back to the problem with N2IT and the fact that NI lost a court case with them and had to pay a licence for each copy of "Scratch enabled" versions of their software........

my references were from two year old discussions, so yeah you have to try it.
on one hand, one can't blame NI on using a 'traktor scratch certified' lock list, for obvious business reasons.. check out the latest DJM-900 deal, could you imagine what happened? a realistic scenario I see is NI giving away the Traktor certification (nothing changes in the actual USB soundcard in it), but demanding exclusivity (ie no Serato). Also, it helps for selling more licenced copies, which is good for everyone involved.

On the other hand, it means inconvinience for the licensed user, and that happens sometimes. Like for you, fleater (still, give it a try), or many others.. Business dictates, and very little can be done about that

It's a bit silly in some ways, but with a licensed copy you can only use an NI soundcard. Aggregated or 3rd party sound cards only work for timecode with cracked versions.

Latency is very good if this matters and no pops exist in 2.5ms.
I've set the audio 4dj to set the midi clock though.
So, IMO your setup will work flawlessly.

I too have aggregated an A4DJ with an A2DJ in a mac, it works flawlessly, only minor is you need two ports. It also works very well in windows with Asio4All.

Firstly, why would you need to do that with the Audio 6?

Second, yes, you can aggregate any 2 sound devices plugged into a mac.
Go to the Audio options, and check the options and settings. You will see the Aggregate option.

nope, you can you aggregate device on macs to allow you to use 2 soundcards josh.

I've never done it personally, i dont own a mac.

traktor only supports one sound card at a time on all platforms... not sure about ableton or other software.. VDJ might still supports multiple sound cards, not sure tho.
