Denon DN X-600 Hi Guys, Well, I've been owning the Denon DN X-600 now for about two months and noticed the interest in the community s is quite high, but not a lot of info is on here. I've bought this unit to get the best of both worlds: use it as a midi mixer controller next to my X1's and use the general Mixer functionality for everything non-digital. As a mixer, the unit comes with a ton of options and certainly fits nicely. The feel of the faders and knobs is just excellent. As a midi-controller I do have to warn you though: it doesn't fill my needs. It all starts with the fact you'll have to start up windows first and then turn on the mixer, otherwise no midi-signals will be sent. A weird little thing, but it does take away the feeling it's solid. Furthermore, you can't map the LED's, opposed to the X1600. This seems like a small thing, but really presents you with quite a few challenges if you want to map all your functions to buttons that light up, even when the functions are of. This way you spend more time checking your laptop screen or figuring out workarounds to check if (for instance) a filter or key is turned on or off. Unfortunately, not all the knobs are assignable. In fact, there's quite a lot of them you can't assign. All the gain knobs could seem logical, but the fader assign knobs and MIC knobs could can't be assigned either. That's a total of 3 knobs which could be assigned, next to the 5 gain knobs that are left out. | |
