Louisa Hemmah 22.04.2011 | this is new for today if you are still looking into Mixage: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/04...y-on-a-budget/ |
Kristofer Krauel 21.04.2011 | I would personally go an try these things out first. Only then will you get to know which one is for you. Like I say I'm a reloop fan cos I've had nothing but great experiences with their products but I do know that others havent been so fortunate. Mind you I'm certain you could find a thread on this community complaining about every controller out there!! (just go and look in the s4 community for evidence of what some people will complain about). |
Louisa Hemmah 20.04.2011 | I believe it depends on what level you are on with the dj'ing then. If you are looking at the vci, I would consider the s4 also. Both those seem more of controllers you will grow into as opposed to outgrow like the mixtrack. My choice for the mixtrack was because I am a total noob, but I am still very happy with my choice and have a ways to go before I can consider upgrading. And I didn't look past the mixtrack forncash reasons also. |
Sindy Babecki 20.04.2011 | Really not sure on anything Reloop at the moment. Found the thread from a couple months back and it seemed everyone but Kooper and one or two others had a really bad time with it. I believe it's come down to breaking the bank for a VCI-100SE (if they're still sold by DJTT) or go for a Mixtrack and upgrade at a later time when funds allow. |
Kristofer Krauel 20.04.2011 | I've got a reloop but not the mixage. I've got the digital jockey. The mixage looks ok but I'd try and stretch to the extra 50 quid forthe jockey if you can. Solid chasis and has always been great for me. I've used the mixtrack pro as well though and whilst it's not built as solid as the reloop it's still a damn good 2 deck controller. I'd personally avoid the typhoon. Plastic. Tiny and faders for EQ instead of knobs!!! Like the earlier poster ive also got a midi-fighter and it compliments both the reloop and mixtrack superbly. |
Louisa Hemmah 20.04.2011 | Your welcome. I will say that the Mixtrack Pro is pretty light but does not feel that cheapy plastic. I have definitely seen at least one thread if not a comment on Digitaldjtips.com on the review for the unit that some had been playing out with it for a few months with no issues. Really depends on how you treat it I guess. I certainly would not drop it to find out how sturdy ti really is. But the Typhoon probably wouldn't fair well either in that sense. |
Sindy Babecki 20.04.2011 | Thanks Beanzos. I will try and get to a store that stocks all 3 and have a fiddle. I've used VDJ a couple times before, but feel much more comfortable with Traktor. I know the Typhoon and Mixtrack Pro both ship with VDJ in mind, but with custom MIDI mapping, it's not something I'm too worried about. The size issue is a good point. I have rather large hands, and did worry about getting my hands muddled up mid-mix or something. I am worried about the Mixtracks seemingly fragile build quality though. I would like to play out with my setup at some point, and don't want to risk breaking anything. The metal chassis is the reason the Reloop began getting major consideration. Did Vestax still not fix the AMD issue? I'm planning on DJing on my Macbook anyway, but my desktop is AMD, and I'd like to feel free to DJ on either system. Pancaker: I also didn't like the idea of fader EQ. It goes against everything I've ever learnt in studios and would really throw me off. The Audio2 + Mixtrack is a good idea. It'd make upgrades in the future alot easier and cheaper. Anyone have any experience with the Reloop? It seems alot like the VCI-100 but I've noticed a distinct lack of community for it. I believe there's 6 posts on this community that even mentions the Mixage. |
Shonda Soulier 20.04.2011 | I got a Mixtrack Pro for my first controller and I love it. The sound is great and I like that it only takes on USB port to run the thing. I got a Midi Fighter to go along with it and I have all I need for right now. I'm beginning to outgrow it now that I've been playing out for a while. I plan on upgrading to a 4 deck controller in the near future, but I'm glad I chose the Mixtrack Pro as my first. |
Loyce Mekonen 20.04.2011 | Judging for the amount of buttons/knobs, I'd go for the mixtrack... although I'd advice on just buying the mixtrack basic version and getting a separate sound card such as NI's Audio 2 or maybe a used Audio 4. Take in consideration that my experience is based on the mixtrack only. The Typhoon wouldn't be an option for me since I just do not like the fader EQ's. Dunno about the Reloop controller.. |
Louisa Hemmah 20.04.2011 | I got a Mixtrack pro about 2 months ago and am very happy with it. It is not only my first controller, but my first experience DJ'ing. I had been wanting to get into DJ'ing for a long time, but a turntable set-up was out fo my financial reach, so i gave up on it. Then i recently discovered that digital DJ'ing existed and was in a position to give it a go. I also looked at the Vestex Typhoon, but was sold by the size of the Mixtrack pro as it felt more comfortable to me in the store (the Typhoon is smaller, but feels a bit more solid). Seems you are in the UK/Europe by the currency symbols, so not sure what software either will come with. In the US, the MTP came with Virtual DJ LE. There is nothing wrong with VDJ, but i tried out the demo of Traktor and preferred it to VDJ. It just felt more refined to me than VDJ. I would certainly suggest that if you are able to go to a store and get a chance to at least touch either controller, it will help. Also compare features and compatability with your computer as the Typhoon might not work with some machines, mainly AMD processors. Both these units seemed very similar in features and there are plenty of video reviews for both you could watch that can help understand what they are capable of. |
