Hey, so i looked around a bit, but i just picked up the MPK Mini

do i need to do anything special to hook it up to ableton (import a new map/ map it myself)?? or does it just work outta the box.

sorry ive been at work since 5 am and im slippin a bit.

I am still waiting for the unite, is it automatically mapped to the keyboard? How do you map the pads to impulse?

Check akai's site. They might have a mapping for it.

Just like the other akai products I believe it will already map automatically. You might need to install drivers and that's it. I have an LPK 25 but kind of hate not having pitch and mod wheels on it.
