Reply to Question about speakers

I bought myself a pair of these for a good deal:

I've had them for a while now, and they're good for small ish events, but I also believe they sound really harsh. I feel like I'm always taking the highs down and pumping the bass 'cause they're not big enough to get nice lows. Do you have to bite the bullet and drop some coin to get speakers that can pump out big bass? Or are there cheapish solutions? I've been playing gigs and earning some money, I was believeing about investing it in sound rather than more controllers haha.
