Hooking up 2 brand new Midi Fighter Pro's properly - USB port concerns When I get home today my beat masher and cue master will be waiting for me I'm curious about the best way to hook these up USB-wise. I read the DJTT USB hub article and will be buying a powered USB hub. My Macbook Pro has 2 USB 2.0 ports and I am currently using an S4 and Maschine. I have been using each of these on a separate port, but now I'll be looking to use 4 devices on 2 ports. Based on another DJTT article about USB ports on Mac's having diff. performance levels, I'm believeing that I should use the port furthest away from me to run the S4 by itself. I would then use a USB hub to run the 2 Midi Fighter Pro's and Maschine. My question is, would I be better off getting 2 USB hubs and combining the S4 w/ either a MFP or Maschine? Another question is related to USB 1.0 vs 2.0. The article states that you shoud try not to have a 2.0 and a 1.0 device on the same hub b/c the hub will then run at 1.0 speeds and the 2.0 device will be slowed down... Based on this, I'm wondering if I should get two powered hubs, run S4 and Maschine on one and the 2 MFP's on the other. If I do this, could one USB port handle both the S4 and Maschine w/o issues? | |
