APC40 Crossfade replacement..?
Posted on: 23.12.2009 by Delphine Mauser
Anyone tried replacing the APC40's crossfade with a better one?

Maybe something like the pro X fade. Any ideas on what would work?

I have decided to get a Xone:22 and put an Innofader in there rather.

That way, I can split my rig up into Pure DVS and KP3.....and a Digital DJing rig mixing internally with my APC80.

Or....mash em together!

I still haven't tried replacing the x-fader in my APC40. However it stays elevated enough in my coffin that I am gonna try it.

yeah...i did a similar thing in Traktor by setting the velocity of teh fader....can crab with it...but its not the same level volume everytime...and is ghetto....and not teh real deal.

Fader is gonna fuck out soon!

Elliot also sent me some dimensions of the S4 that will fit a modded innofader.

I need to check the angle that I put the fader at...that will help it fit.

He will then be able to supply and elbow type extension for the stem...and BOBS your Aunty.

I have heard that the Innofader FEELS better that the Pro x Fade.

Any care to comment that has experience on both and maybe a few diff types?

Gonna check Skratchworx too.

I actually got a quote from Elliot @ Innofader and it would be an extra $100 for a custom plate to fit the innofader and yes it would have to be sticking out the bottom.

I've mapped the stock APC CF in Ableton and it is very responsive and can handle flares and crabs nicely.. on the downside i dont know if its software or hardware, but when i record the automation of fast movements of the CF in Ableton, it gets adjusted by whats called linear interpolation i believe.. Ive watched videos of Ableton mapping the Rane TTM 57SL mixer. and it seems to record the automation of the CF better than the APC..

BUMP!

JuanSOLO....did you ever get this working?

Innofader on the APC40?

I am now considering building it into a breakout box....

Any further news on the X Fader replacement?

I like Zac's idea of leaving the fader door open under the console. The fader screws in and will be secure.

Only thing I need to know is which freakin fader?

The Pro x Fade? ( I have been partial to this one for a LOOONG time....never used it tho.)
Innofader?
Innofader Pro?

Wiring wise...I see the Innofader and adapters and shit that comes with it....

Anyone with a bit of knowledge on this able to help?

Will any wiring need to be done?

I found that I was able to set the midi setting a bit to get a very quick response from the Xfader....but this was done in Traktor.

I would like to add a scratch fader.....

Basically....I need to find the dimensions of the APC X Fader...and see what the Pro X Fade's are and see what I can do.

Will report back!

the proxfade looks smaller than the innofader.. yeh maybe have it stick out the bottom, and create some longer feet for the APC40.. and put it in a case.. it would be nice to really be able to scratch with it.. @fa5KY so you believe the wiring should go easy tho??

I made one from a hunk of lead.

Where did you find the lead knob? I'd like to replace that at least if I cant replace the whole unit. I tend to make very fast movements with the crossfader and have already broken 2 sliders doing the same thing...

and those knobs come off way to easily... I might glue them on if not replace them

I switched my plastic cross fader knob, for a piece of lead.

I am also trying to get a tiny little strip of rubber to stay down to serve as a bumper for when cross fading or "scratching"

This works better than before, and not as troublesome as going all the way with replacement.

Anyone have any luck switching out the crossfader on the apc40?

I'm looking to do this myself

Yeah, the APC is too shallow for those faders. This is a strange idea, but it may be possible to put a ProX in there, and just leave the fader door off of the APC. Since the APC doesn't sit flat on the surface, there may be enough clearance. But I haven't opened it up yet so I don't know...

i was wondering the same thing the other day. i even stopped using the crossfader for mixing, i only use the line/up faders now. i mapped that to a wet/dry for my sends fx

im pretty sure there isnt enough room to fit a pro x fade or innofader in there.

You can just add a break out box though, and wiring up the xfader is pretty straight forward.
