Reply to Getting into production?

Hellooooo! Hope everyone is doing well! Let me start by saying I absolutely love and adore this community in every way. It's such an awesome community and I check it probably 10-15 times a day (obsessive much?!). Anyway, I've been DJ'ing for about 4 months now and I've thought about getting into production while I continue mastering my mixing techniques. Currently I'm using an MC6000 and a Midi Fighter. I don't really know much about music theory, aside from the basic stuff (tempo, etc.) I'm also kind of ignorant about the software/hardware choices when it comes to production. I'm not looking to invest tons of money right off the bat, but in all of your opinions what would be a good place to start?

Should I just start with ableton and no controllers? Should I get a maschine(or maschine mikro?) Maybe a midi keyboard or a legit synthesizer? Just looking for some opinions here! I will probably start with remixes before I do my own tracks, by the way so keep that in mind.
