i plan on using one to mod my nanokontrol to become like an MPD26, but with an XY pad to take the place of two sliders

Plus its an xy pad that you know works. And if you're willing to pay more, look at the korg padkontrol. That plus a nanokontrol gives you about as much functionality as an mpd. Plus I hear the korg pads feel better.

That's all assuming you don't already have a pad controller.
i have a padkontrol, as well as a nanokontrol,
i want to have a 4x4 of arcade buttons, about 6-8 Pots, and an XY pad

There is also one for windows called Touchpad2midi. Works great and I believe it's free.

IF you are using a mac there is an app called 'track master' which turns your laptop trackpad into a midi trackpad. $5. works well.
