Xone DX

Xone DX

Hey guys,

Just trying to finish putting my setup together and wanted to get a decent 4 channel mixer.

I was really looking for a s4 but i was looking through craigslist and came across a Xone XD. Its listed for $700 but i talked the guy down to $550. It also comes with serato itch but i already have traktor pro 2. I believe im getting a great deal but just wanted to know what you guys believe of both the price and the mixer.

Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. My setup now consists of a CDJ-350 ($270) and a CDJ-400 ($345) and a VCI-100 Arcade (which i believe im going to sell now that i got the cdj's). I believe i dug up some pretty ridiculous deals after all said and done....

I already attempted this but its possible that i had the mixer set to external settings...this may be the issue.

But even with the vci set to external, i had the cdj set to HID and the midi mode was on channel 1 which should correspond to deck A....When i had it setup like this i was not able to transport any data to/from the cdj while in traktor. Note that i did have the cdj-350 .tsi file loaded up properly. However once loaded, it shows up as 'Generic Midi'. Im going to try setting it to channel 3 (deck C) and see if that works.

Anyway i can get this running in HID mode with my Audio 2 and no mixer? Or perhaps, using my VCI-100 as my mixer??? I already got the CDJ-350 .tsi file loaded up but i couldnt get any data transport via the cdj in traktor and ive tried many different settings. Let me know if you have any solutions (details are always greatly appreciated as im still learning the technical end of this stuff). As always, many Thanks!

C'mon gemini....i know you got somethin for me. Itching to use this thing already!

You actually don't even need an audio 2, you can aggregate the sound cards and feed tracks to the player straight from traktor.

So you would set up the sound cards to receive audio from traktor as you mixed externally with the xone:42

I gotcha...now i can run this through traktor 2 rather than traktor scratch right??

Like you said i just route the sound cards through traktor and use the xone as my external mixer.... but then all i have to do is route deck A & B (or C & D) to the same channel as the cdj's and ill have full control there??

Anyone? im really struggling here....

So i attempted this to use the cdj with the vci last evening very briefly and failed....

I believe my issue has to do with the audio inputs...I have the 3 choices....built-in, audioo 2dj and pioneer cdj-350.

First, can someone explain to me how the cdj sound card differs from my audio 2?

Also, i had my mixer set to internal hoping to use my vci as my mixer, and i had the cdj-350 .tsi mapping loaded in controller settings. I was showing on traktor that data was responding when i would press buttons on the vci but it was not performing any functions. The cdj on the other hand had no data transferring at all through traktor. Frustrated to say the least....

Im sorry i dont believe im following that correctly....are you explaining this setup to be run with traktor or as a standalone setup?

And other than HID mode, what are my other options for running the cdjs?

You can't do much with that sound card other than to feed one audio channel in from your computer, or to record right from the mixer, but that's irrelevant since you have a cdj350 and 400. Congratulations on the purchase man! I just hope you got the gray one and not the silver!

jumped on the Xone 42. Shipping out today. Cant wait for it to get here.

Guitar center shipped me the cdj-350 with no power cord....i was pissed. But luckily its the same cord as my cable box so i tested it out.

Cdj-400 on the way as well. Guess its time to put the VCI-100 arcade up for sale sad day

So i found a really good deal on a xone 42 now and i might jump on that instead. From what i understand though, there is only 1 input and 1 output for soundcard use??? is this correct? Basically what i plan on using is 2 cdjs and this xone 42. I also have an NI audio 2 which i do not believe will suffice....please advise as to which is the best way to run all these together. Sorry if this is very noobish but im soo soo new to this cdj thing its killing me.

Yeah, I've been looking around now, and can't seem to find a place where they aren't sold out. I just saw one at my local GC yesterday, but unfortunately that doesn't help you very much :/
