Monome + ?
Monome + ? Posted on: 29.01.2012 by Natasha Seich HiI am currently usind a monome which is emulating four midifighters. I would like some ideas on making a more solid setup, without spending too much! I am running the basic deckalized mapping from here: http://www.djranking s.com/midi-map/ With traktor, not the current version, the waveform is still yellow. Version ? I am using a motu interface with 8 outs and whatever mixer is in the venue. I have a couple of issues. First is that i would like to not use the house mixer. So i believe either keep my setup and get a normal dj mixer. Or use the traktor mixer and get a controller. Optionally if the controller also includes a soundcard then i can leave the motu at home. Currently i am taking in and out if the rack for each gig. Second is the mapping, i seem to mainly use the 8 cue buttons, but you need to 'page in and out' of these. And if you are using the cue points then you can't also do the stutter effects. I believe overall i would like to use a mapping that doesn't need any paging or shift. One button does one job. Third is effects. I believe i would rather have one multi effects thing and i send to it. Rather than a set of effects buttons for every deck. There is a video somewhere with carl cox and the djm 2000. He is basically at any point only playing with one effect, with a kind of 'push a button and twiddle a knob' kind of approach. Is the same thing doable inside traktor? Inside traktor with a send/return fx setup, where is the return? Are there any level controls or eq? Doing the effects inside traktor is an argument to use a controller and not a real mixer. Fourth is mixer. Are there any simple controlers that just have four faders and knobs in a row for gain eq etc? It seems like the cheap dj mixers are actually less than the cost for controllers. This is an argument to get a real mixer. Fifth is what i am doing with the mouse. I am still using the mouse to browse, load tracks by drag/drop (is there a non drag method?), fiddle with beat grids if necessary, and seek through the track. I have an ipad. I would love a way to browse like you browse through itunes with the remote app, and load tracks onto a deck. Also maybe there is a way on the ipad to search through tracks and do spin backs etc. i already have touchosc. I guess beatgrid stuff has to stay with the mouse. Also with traktor version, is there anything in the new version which could benefit me? Anything about mapping or fx routing. If it's just the coloured waveform and the sample deck things then i believe i'm ok with the verson of traktor i have. Sorry, a bit long, but any ideas much appreciated. | |
