Reply to controller / keyboard advice

afternoon folks,

not sure if this is the right community , but basically need bit of advice controller-wise.

essentially, been out the game for a while - was last using cubase vst and cool edit, hooked up to big old keyboard and couple of turntables!

wanting to get back in to the whole production type thing, and not sure where to start.

been looking at the m-audio axiom range, which look quite good - is there any difference between the usb and the midi as regards controlling sounds?
the other option was the yamaha p95, more of a keyboard, but does have midi, so could be used for the same thing - and has the advantage of built-in speakers as well as nicely weighted keys...

any thoughts most welcome.
