Denon Dns3700 w/ Traktor?
Denon Dns3700 w/ Traktor? Posted on: 25.12.2011 by Molly Brehl Hello community, I have been mixing with CD's for a while now and am ready to make the switch to traktor. I own 2 Denon dn-s3700's and a dn-x1600 mixer. So the big question is, how do I get this setup working? Also, what are the pros and cons of using the Dn-s3700's in Hybrid Midi mode vs. using timecode CD's. I herd midi mode has a ton of problems with sticker drift's. Is that true? Also, If I decide to go the timecode CD rout, will I need to upgrade to Traktor Scratch?Thank you for all of the help! | |

Burl Diffee 07.02.2012 | Hey I am just wondering if someone can help me ... I normally use Traktor S4 and the only reason I had to get a CD player is because I do a lot of private gigs. I have a s3700 and tried to follow every video I could find in regards to getting it linked up with Traktor Scratch Pro 2. - I have bought traktor scratch pro 2 upgrade for s4 - Installed and connected s4 and usb to s3700 - Click on cd mode on s3700 and then clicked on calibrate on traktor scratch pro 2 - After done, clicked on mini and selected hybrid midi - Imported midi mapps from djranking s community which one of the members posted and also imported the mapping that was on traktor bible. - The functions that they say on their midi mappings work apart from one major issue ... I cannot get the Pitch / Tempo Fader to work... : ( And this is getting really annoying as when I load any tracks it automatically moves the fader to all the way up.. But if I add tracks from tracktor and then click on the vinyl icon it gets the track on the right time and works. But when I moves the pitch / tempo fader it does not work .. Is there anything that I am doing wrong, please help ... Also, when I switch back to CD mode, I am able to use 100% of s3700 functions and being able to load the tracks from tracktor, and the Pitch / Tempo faders work as well.. BUT when I change the pitch / tempo fader it does not update that on traktor. Please help me .. I guess if this does not work ill be forced to sell it and to buy something that will work with CD's and Traktor. :S Thanks |
Shalon Jaranilla 28.12.2011 | yes, as far as i know the s4 upgrade works just fine, i've got the s4 upgrade and no problems with it, but i own an s4 as well. If you buy the upgrade they will send you the new timecode cd's and vinyls when it's not packed with your upgrade. i believe i have read in other threads that owners with an audio / 8/ 10 and traktor pro can use the traktor s4 upgrade and don't need the more expensive route.. Think Karlos was talking about this. But you might wanna check this because you don't own the NI soundcard. So i'm not sure how your service center will handle this. I didn't have much time yet to use my 3700 with my audio 10 and mixer, but as far as i saw the build in timecode works just fine, you only have to start with the timecode cd's, all is explained in the thread of denon dj community s. You can get track names on your 3700 with the denon 4500 tsi file and use the two different tsi files for the 3700"s to be found in the thread for midi options. In the community there is a thread as well about the cue slip there are two settings in your 3700 1 for use with cd's the other when you use it with timecode. Have fun with it. |
Molly Brehl 27.12.2011 | "I find a little less flutter using the tomecode on a usb stick with the 3700." -thanks thats a really useful tip! Also, thanks souldancer. I have seen those videos before but they where still useful. I just got my mixer tsi. working with traktor, now I just need to upgrade. I have owned a traktor control S4 in the past. Do you guys believe it would be legal if I used its product code to upgrade to traktor scratch pro for 120$ instead of the full 300? Im asuming both upgrade routs get you the same software so the S4 upgrade would work with my denon mixer? |
Shalon Jaranilla 26.12.2011 | This might help, http://www.denondjcommunity s.com/denonfo...p?f=50&t=15366 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu4py6vr_I4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWRtspPFaCM |
Cliff Lohman 26.12.2011 | The cds come with the upgrade so ull be good to go. I find a little less flutter using the tomecode on a usb stick with the 3700. |
Molly Brehl 26.12.2011 | So I guess my best option is to buy some timecode CD's, upgrade to traktor scratch pro and do it that way. Thanks for all the help. |
Cliff Lohman 25.12.2011 | U will need traktor scratch. Hybrid midi mode is pretty tight with the timecode signal. Ull get drift with both the cds or hybrid midi but its not that bad. Id use hybrid midi. Only thing is that im not sure hybrid midi works since the 2.1 upgrade. I havent been able to use it since switching my mixer so i cant say for sure but since ni switched the timecode signal hz and denon hasnt upgraded to match it, i cant see it working. |
