Adding FADER VU METER on vci arcade using old buttons led.
Posted on: 27.02.2012 by Somer Vanstraten
I was believeing, that could be nice to add to my vci arcade some vu meter using the spare leds from the old buttons.
if i remember well, its like 8 green and 8 orange
so i was believeing of drill near the faders, and put 4 green, 2 orange and 2 red(orange led + marker) each side.
What are the normal volume value for a vu meter?
i was believeing of map like this:

red 100%
red 95%
orange 90%
orange 82%
green 70%
green 55%
green 40%
green 20%

Has someone tried do this?

Seems like this mod cannot be made.
Maybe someone with a normal vci can try (leds already connected lol)
if the same note for both then i guess just using a different velocity to select which color is lit up. so u won't be able to have both on at the same time probably

Yes arcade buttons, but reconnect the leds is easy, i really don't remember if its only a note (equal of the button one) or two note, one for the green and one for the orange, different from the button one.
i believe i should import a old tsi and try to find it, also if i not remember the behavior of the leds in the tsi, i'll have to check all the "out"s

but I believe is better directly in the vci, and i was believeing if this mod is possible (and a decent volume scale for the less)
don't see how it could be any better, but could/should be just as good? i guess the LP is usb1 but not much of an issue for this. more of an issue with massive page led refreshes...

other request, someone know the midi note of the leds?? looking in the main board i can understand of with button the wire is, but i don't know where to look for finding the note of the outputs (green and orange one)

I trid to map the VU meters on my VCI300 ages ago (traktor 1.1 I believe)

It worked but the lag it caused was un-workable with all the leds on - it may have improved with Traktor 2 - and I was using the VCI300 soundcard which may have been the bottleneck.

But it can be done - try it and see without fitting the leds in the case first.
