Speaker "Pop" when I turn them off?
Posted on: 25.03.2012 by Carey Leid
My speakers make a single "pop" noise when I turn them off. Not when I turn them on, and there doesn't seem to be any problem when playing music. I have 2 Alto TS115's, they both do it. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Totally normal. To avoid this, turn your amplifier gains all the way down.

I have passive speakers, and they pop when I turn them on or off too. Not a big deal as they still sound fine. Only start to worry if they catch fire, and let the magic smoke out.

Normal. Are they self powered? If so, you can stop this by turning down your master before powering down. If they're powered by an amp then turning off the amp before powering off the rest of your gear will fix it.
