Play around with mappings and such and then get a mfc down the road if you find yourself needing a more specialized gadget. I ended up needing more precise triggers for my effects and got the mf, but you might be happy with the just the launchpad. Sorry if I'm rambling a bit, too much caffiene today. |

Chasidy Heckenbach 01.07.2012 | they're both good controllers for different things, i have two launchpads and a midi fighter classic. if you want great response from the buttons for beat mashing then don't buy the launchpad. it's buttons are a bit squidgy and no way close to being as responsive. they're still great tho and i believe everyone should have a launchpad as they're just so bloody versatile. i created a mapping for mixxx the other month that has two layers, one for all the usual deck controls and one that emulates the virtual faders like when it's used in ableton. i used the mixer button as a toggle to go between each layer. having all the led feed back is great and lets u create quite complex layouts and still have a clue what is what as a first controller i'd go for the launchpad over the midi fighter and maybe add in midifighter later on. i'd go for the MF3D tho over the classic if buying one now - unless price was the driving factor... |

Ludie Pointon 28.06.2012 | I want to buy a MFC, not a MF3D... And i dont know if giving up 64 buttons for 16 buttons is a good idea... btw i heard that midi fighter has sensible buttons that can be used like a crossfader for the effects ecc... am i right? |
Werner Bile 27.06.2012 | I have both a Launchpad and an MF3D and I'd recommend the Midi Fighter for what you want to do. Don't get me wrong, I love the launchpad and it's an amazingly versatile little gadget. I used it as a midi fighter before I got my 3D and while it works (in fact I'd say that in general the launchpad works great for traktor), the pads just don't work as well as the arcade buttons for triggering effects/cue points. I found that using instant grat on the launchpad that if I didn't hit the pads square in the center, they would sometimes fail to register. Add in the impending Remix deck capabilities and I'd say you can't go wrong with a MF3D. |

Katelyn Hoctor 27.06.2012 | depends extactly what you want the launch pad can be mapped to midifighter style use within tracktor but if used for clip launching with ableton then its more at home and maybe of more use to buy a launch pad, id personally go with the midifighter tho myself as im a sucker for arcade buttons and effects in traktor, but ive got other controllers for the mixer eliment and song loading |
