I have recently sold my Traktor S4 because I want a controller that works with both Ableton and Traktor.

Is it possible to Map a pioneer ergo with ableton Live ?

Which is actually kind of hilarious, because of you've actually touched one, you'd instantly realize that it actually feels nicer than the entire S series, and almost every other controller I've handled. It's amazing how the Internet can pass judgement based on a picture and a promo video.

Ok first of all thats probably the silliest thing I've heard in a while(no offense), the S4 is about 100 times better for Traktor than the Ergo will ever be + better Soundcard and Traktor software was included.

Secondly, the S4 would have mapped better than the Ergo (more channels/buttons/sample section) however yes you could map to Ableton, it'll be a challange as the layout is really not suited to ableton (no 2 deck controllers really are) and the jog wheels will pretty much be a waste of space - see the above post for better options.

Oh and the ergo was developed for Serato Intro (not Traktor even if it works fine) so you'll lose the tight integration the S4 had.

What are your intentions with Traktor and what are your intentions with Ableton ... answer these and you'll get better suggestions.

I agree with deevey, the S4 in midi mode has more to map than the ergo in the ableton category, and you just can't beat its integration with traktor because it was designed with traktor in mind specifically for it, but everyone has their own way of doing things. I say if you want something great for both get a mixer with midi capabilites and 1/2 x1's and a f1.

I did say the consensus, and to be fair that was reached primarily based on pioneers own marketing strategy - which IMHO may have backfired Immensely.

No doubt it IS a capable controller as it shares most features with its big brothers, but i'd stand by it being a silly choice for Traktor over an S4 and even sillier choice for Ableton (S4 would be pretty silly to me for Ableton as well BTW).

Its a midi controller....it'll map to anything that can send/receive midi.

It makes no sense to get an Ergo for Ableton imo. If you want something to work with both get an APC or Twitch or Launchpad or Block or Ohm or etc...
