Decision: SeismicAudio & MixDeck - Advice on Subwoofer
Posted on: 07.08.2012 by Lindsy Toben
Hello Folks,

After a lot of advice and reading around and looking at my particular circumstances, I decided to get a modest gear to start my DJ adventure. I settled on:
MixDeck (http://www.numark.com/product/mixdeck/)
Given budget contraints went for a pair of Seismic Audio PWS-12 speakers: http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/...r-p/pws-12.htm

Now, I need an advice on how to connect my subwoofer. I have an BIC-PL-200 subwoofer: http://www.amazon.com/BIC-PL-200-Aco.../dp/B001W3FXAQ
This is a powered subwoofer with the following specs:

Front-Firing 12" Long-Throw Powered Subwoofer with state-of-the-art BASH amplifier
1000 Watts Dynamic Peak Output, 250 Watts RMS Continuous
Frequency Response: 22Hz - 200Hz, adjustable crossover & volume controls
Sensitivity: 110dB @ 30Hz
12" poly-injected, with high power magnet and long excursion surround

The sub has sets of RCA inputs and outputs as well as a SUB-IN jack. Since I am not using a home audio receiver and the mixdeck does not have an SUB-OUT jack, how do I connect the subwoofer to my rig? Is it possible to connect it to my PWS-12s?

Thanks - Oyiwaa

Thanks - I returned both the MixDeck and SA speakers -- I've created a different topic asking for questions on controllers. I would very much appreciate your contributions and input. Thanks - Oyiwaa

The link for the speakers isn't loading for me. Anyway, if the speakers have an output then you can plug it into the sub in, you could use any extra output you have a record out or booth out because it has a built in cross over, which means, no matter what you put into it, you will not be feeding hi's and mid's to the speaker its self, which could damage it.
To be honest if those speakers are 12" pa speakers, that sub wont balance out very well, especially because it is an SQ sub, and not an SPL sub.
