Behringer ddm4000 crossfader mod
Behringer ddm4000 crossfader mod Posted on: 05.10.2011 by Laureen Calegari http://youtu.be/dbuPNuSOuosI found a cheap DDM4000 on cl with the intentions of doing this mod. I was wondering what is actually happening in this mod? Im guessing that the midi from the up fader is being routed to the crossfader to do both midi/audio at the same time. My question to anyone that can answer is does it have to come from the up fader. What i would like to do is take out one of the potentiometer from either the sampler or mic input that are midi controllable and route those to the crossfader instead. If possible i would just need to know pinout and route the midi signal to the crossfader. Any insight for this issue is GREATLY appreciated!!! | |

BUT when it reads, it's WAY off and will only slide the midi value to 0. I can't control from 0-127... it's annoying. I was talking to Daniel about this mod and he told me I have to remove the sampler pot in order to get the mod to work... anyone have any advice? I'm itching to try out my Serato Video with this! Tiffanie Standring 14.08.2012 | drockwell I could really use your help! I have tried doing the Mod the way you described and I have failed numerous times. All you did was solder 3 wires from the 3 points shown above to 3 points on the crossfader, correct? and what is that big black glob of stuff covering your solder points? I just tried to solder the end of a wire to those points without covering them or anything. I believe I soldered to the wrong crossfader points because when I hooked it back up and used the crossfader it caused a glitch similar to hitting every button on the mixer at once. I tried switching the points and had no success. I believe this simple diagram could help me and alot of other people. If you have the top of the mixer here--- looking at the back of the circuit board like your picture. sampler pot points here: 0a +5Vdc 0b SIGNAL 0c GND Crossfader points here: 01 02 05 03 06 04 bottom of mixer here---------- Please tell me what to connect where. because I connected: a to 6, b to 5, and c to 4. didn't work so I switched the wires to 4 and 5 and that didn't work either. I would REALLY appreciate the help! |

Laureen Calegari 20.02.2012 | The stock fader went out of the mixer and I am replacing it with a X1 INFINIUM OPTICAL FADER. Going to try to get this mod to work with it. Update* X1 will not work with this mod. Its a digital fader and you need a analog fader to go the the analog pot for the sampler volume. |

Nichol Oblander 14.12.2011 | The mod is very simple and works perfectly. Thanks for the help djbamn |
Nichol Oblander 12.12.2011 | Ok thanks. Gonna try it out and will keep you posted |
Shizue Favro 12.12.2011 | @calibur i had the same problem. In order for the mod to work you have to sacrifice the sampler volume knob. it has to be disconnected. and you only need to solder 1 wire after this and thats the midi signal wire. the crossfader and the sampler knob share the midi signal when the knob is still connected to the board. pretty much you have to sacrifice the knob in order for it to work. i did it and im satisfied with the outcome. i never used the sampler anyway. good luck let me know how its turns out for you. |
Nichol Oblander 08.12.2011 | Can someone help me with this mod please. I solder the wires accordingly to the info for the sampler but the mixer would go into this system check mode. So I cut the wires that I solder and it started up. It seems when the cross fader and the sampler wires are connection at the same time I get this problem. So I disconnect the cross fader and reconnected the sampler wires to it. The mide works but it also causes the mixer effects and other option to change when I use the cross fader and if I reconnect the the cross fader wire the midi doesn't work any more and accessing the mixer options is not possible. Someone please help? |
Shizue Favro 27.11.2011 | @drockwell can you give a more detailed walk thru? i started doing the mod the way you say it works for you and im having issues. |

Brunilda Kora 11.10.2011 | I'd love to see some info on relocating the headphone jack! Re: the crossfader - there are (at LEAST) 2 replacement crossfaders that you can put in a DDM4000 (and I believe keep the midi mod): 1) Innofader (around |

Laureen Calegari 10.10.2011 | Here is my progress over the weekend I took my meter to find out the pinout for the sampler pot and the crossfader: BACK OF BOARD *5+ DC *SIGNAL *GND FRONT OF BOARD CROSSFADER (FACING BOTTOM OF FADER) TOP LEFT = GND TOP RIGHT = 5+ DC BOTTOM RIGHT = SIGNAL I routed (soldered while connecting the points above) the midi from the sample pot (volume/mix adjust) to the crossfader, then engaged midi for the sampler in the main menu. BAM! Now I have audio and mid without the loss of any upfader. Also a added bonus is the sampler pot can be used as a "cut" adjustment for the midi side of the crossfader. While I had the mixer apart I relocated the head phone jack off the faceplate and moved it to front of the mixer. Just took a unibit and drilled the hole out, then soldered wires to the connectors. Thought I would share this cause this was simple and a great way to mod the cheap DDM4000 to be used with serato video sl. At some point I would like to find a better crossfader. |

Ralph Alderette 05.10.2011 | i've never done the mod, but depending on your mixing style you could just use the crossfader for midi-only if you mix with the upfaders. Sorry if I didn't help lol |
