(OT) What to get now (mobile phone) Posted on: 26.07.2011 by Roy Houn Ive had the iphone 3gs for 18 months now, i can now upgrade if i want too. Im curious to whats good that out there now, I like my iphone for the fact it just syncs upto itunes easy on my my macbook, that the ipod is an ipod lol and easy to use, i love my iphone i just feel its a bit dated now the 3gs. I dont know anything about Htc, i had a samsung omnia before my iphone which was a windows phone and i found it shit tbh, windows player for music was crap.. any suggetsions on whats good, i use twitter and f a c e b o o k on my phone along with the ipod facitlity when im in the gym and i use runkeeper when i go out cycling to track my rides. | |

Samsung already had the best screen on the market when they put out the Super Amoled on the Galaxy S (first gen). Now they're out with the Super Amoled Plus. Not much of a difference, except that blacks are now reproduced by shutting down the pixels instead of just being tinted black. this results in two things: 1. Much more vivid colors 2. battery life economy Also, it is the first dualcore phone to use and OS optimized for dualcore. I currently own the Motorola Atrix, which was the first dualcore phone. Problem is that it runs on android 2.2 and that OS is not dualcore optimized, so the dualcore on my phone is basically useless. However, on the Galaxy S II this feature is not to be underestimated! The phone is lightning fast! Then well you have the camera specs. 8mp with flash and 2mp for the front facing camera. That blows most of the competition out of the water in that department. Did i mention 1080p video capture? And all of that is stuff into a phone probably 2/3 the thickness of an iphone 4!!! Ordered mine already. cant wait to get it. |

Others may have had better/worse experiences with the same phones described below :-P Me: Keyboard preference: keys (hate touchscreen) Need: EMAIL, lots of SPACE for music, PROGRAM to play music, facebook app Budget: cheap! grad student here (student debt hollaaaaaaa!) Phone choice: BB Bold 9650! -best email client till date, hands down, no matter what android/iphone says. Best notification system (heard thats been a problem on android/iphone of past? not sure) -real keys (although I heard iphone keyboard is easy to get used to...) -stuck a 32 GB card in it. beast mode son. So I started on the Torch, super pumped about it being BB's latest phone etc etc. Absolutely hated it because I was always sliding it up to use the keyboard (bought it to give the touchscreen a shot and see if I could do it...). The big screen was awesome, but that would be most useful only for surfing the web. Well, surfing the web was horrible on the torch! Again, APPLE >>> BB for surfing internet sites. So I downgraded to 9650 and that was the best move I made. Still don't surf the net as much as I would if I was on iphone. Then again, surfing the net is not a priority for me. Just sharing my BB experience. iPhone definitely has its sweet perks and even I'm believeing about switching to it in the future (even with my aversion to touchscreen) simply because I can incorporate it more into my lifestyle and have a lot more fun with it. Right now my BB is doing everything I want it to. I don't need bells and whistles since I cannot justify the price. I personally would wait for the upcoming fall iPhone. It looks legit. It seems to have everything BB had going for it but way more now. If you're cool with touchscreen and can afford it, there's no real reason not to go with apple. They really have mastered the phone/lifestyle concept. Android I cannot comment bc I have no experience but it does look like Android is making sweet phones too. In terms of the companies themselves, BB is going straight downhill right now. The only thing they have going is the Email client, real keyboards, and BBM (which Apple also has now). There was actually a "mutiny" of sorts within RIM recently when RIM employees anonymously posted online letters to the CEOs, blasting them for their horrible leadership. Apple/Google on the other hand are only putting out positive news all the time. But I digress :-P Wasn't expecting this to be so long :-P Just got out of an exam. Needed a DJTT break! I'll probably switch to 3 (the network) as well cos they seem to be the only one offering unlimited data with the iPhone. I've had a blackberry for a couple of years but now my iPod touch (1st gen) is totally outdated as well I thought I might as well upgrade both in one purchase. |
