Ron Paul vs. Obama Posted on: 17.08.2011 by Adrien Hochstrasser So, Ron Paul nearly won the Ames straw poll. Seems like his libertarian views play very well with tea party members. If it wasn't for his (dangerous) isolationist foreign policy, he'd probably be the front runner by a lot. He's consistent, has a proven record, and can't be bought out. Anyone believe he has a chance? Maybe a VP spot? I honestly hope he at least gets to head up some federal agency, maybe secretary of state. | |
Dana Ordinario 18.08.2011 | There are basically two types of taxes for corporations: C Corporations and S Corporations. C Corporations are taxed on income after taking into account business expenses. This is exactly what every "person" does. Then we have S Corporations which are treated like LLC's where all income is passed through the corporation and reported on personal tax returns. C Corporations should not exist it's a tax loophole designed to circumvent tax codes. Ohh and a corporation is not a person, that too. Just thought I'd throw this in here as well if you were still confused. per |

Dana Ordinario 18.08.2011 | He may not be the brightest bulb but at least he saying what he believes instead of pandering to people with stupid talking points and empty promises. Everyone makes insane promises that play to fringes of their party. It seems the more radical you are the more attention you get. No one looks at the majority which consist of mostly smart, rational, and logical people who understand that we all have different interests and ideas about how to run this country. These same people understand that we need to work together. I see the news from around the world and can't believe what I see. I believe that we as a species are on the verge of a global paradigm-shift of the way elect, represent, and govern ourselves. At least I hope otherwise were screwed. |

Dana Ordinario 19.08.2011 | The media will barely acknowledge he exists never mind give him coverage. Look at all the media from the Straw Poll. Media on the right, left and center had more coverage of the the people not even in the race (yet). |
Janell Selser 18.08.2011 | The people who control the Republican Party will never let Ron Paul get anywhere near the White House. /thread, example watch Photojojo's link. He's just as nuts as Bauchman but at least he has a strong anti-war stance which is the only positive thing I could say about the man. |
Augustina Zulu 18.08.2011 | Ron Paul has one vary serious problem to overcome if he has any chance what so ever - the media absolutely hates him. This video is pretty hilarious: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/enter...on-paul/41311/ As for the whole corporation as person debate. I don't believe the issue is with taxes as much as corporate liability. People are rightfully irked when a corporate entity can go largely unpunished for robbing them of a vast percentage of their personal wealth as in the mortgage meltdown. Corporations do not commit crimes - people do. But when those people can hide behind corporate liability to the point where they legally can't even be tried, many see that as a problem. |

Latoria Kavulich 17.08.2011 | The last straw poll Bachman beat him by a few hundred votes. However she bribed 4000 people with music concert tickets to get that support. And wow gotta love the unbiased reporting over there ... They mention Bachman winning, fair enough, skipped 2nd place and mentioned third. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vRuy0m7IjA He is retiring post elections win lose or draw. |

Dana Ordinario 17.08.2011 | All I want is someone who can agree that a corporation is not a person and therefore strip them of this insanity we put ourselves in. |
Neil Malia 17.08.2011 | i like Paul Ryan alot hes a congressman from Wisconsin |
Danae Dumler 17.08.2011 | Yeah a lot of people seem to connect with him. In 2008 he was the only candidate who made any sense at all when talking about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. However when he opens his mouth about almost anything else -- taxes, abortion, creationism, immigration -- he's as loony as Michele Bachmann. |
