PrimeCuts or PromoOnly for Mobile DJ with mixed audience? Posted on: 30.10.2011 by Janell Hin I like that Promo Only has the digital watermark instead of DRM. I don't like that if in another couple years I got another DJ working for my company I would have to build his music library from scratch again and buy him another subscription.I don't know how PrimeCuts keeps people from file sharing but I hate DRM. What would you use if you knew you needed clean promo music? | |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 30.10.2011 | I dont believe its filesharing but im no lawyer. If its your laptop and you are just lending it i believe its ok but in the UK you need a licence to play files from a computer. I dont know how the licence works when its multiple computers. |
Janell Hin 30.10.2011 | I don't like drm because I use multiple laptops at the same gig and want to have them both loaded up. Also I keep a backup in a safety deposit box and backup all my files on my desktop. As far as sharing with another DJ goes, I don't have another DJ. But in the future if I get double booked I would like to be able to program a playlist, send an ameture out and tell him to pepper in requests and not blow my speakers. It would be my music and my DJ company and my computer, is that considered illegal file sharing? |
nayit ruiz jaramillo 30.10.2011 | The digital watermark is there to stop filesharing. If you own the laptop that is being used and the DJ is simply using it (and you have the relevant licence for your country) i see no problem. The thing is. It doesnt matter if its watermarking or DRM, if you set up a laptop for another DJ and give it him you are filesharing and breaking the law (in UK before i get yelled at by the usual lot). |
