All Good Festival - my recap I just got back from the All Good Festival near Columbus, Ohio and I have to say that I was rather impressed all around. This is the first year of the festival being held at Legend Valley (site of legendary Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers shows) after 9 years in West Virginia. The headliners were Phil Lesh (from The Dead), The Flaming Lips, and The Allman Brothers. Favorite Set: Allman Brothers - Gregg Allman can still wail... Whipping Post was a treat. Warren Haynes is a guitar God. Most Memorable Moment: Flaming Lips, Wayne Coyne crowd surfed in his ball right over me and my friends!!! Biggest Surprise: Shpongle - never really been into his tunes, but good live set, really nice mixing/layering. The visuals were stupid unless you smoked some DMT. Asked Everyone If They Caught: Moon Hooch - two saxophones and a drummer all routed through a computer to create some really deep dance tunes. Perfect use of effects...not too much. Great stage presence despite it being their first festival. Definitely check out their YouTube videos. Danced My Face Off At: Big Gigantic - total bass-in-your-face set but it was a blast. New tunes are really Dubstep-y, if you're into that. We killed a 5th of Whisky during this set so that probably helped! Anyone else go? | |
