How long does it take you to make a 1 Hour Live mix (For Soundcloud)? Most of you are probably believeing "easy: an hour...duhh." But I'm talking about from trying to figure out what genre you want to mix, making the tracklist, figuring out the transitions to each track, and retrying if you made an accident during the recorded mix.
I'm curious because I believe I take way too long to make a 1 Hour set for soundcloud. It takes me about a 2 weeks to figure out the genre, tracklist, and transitions. Since I only use Traktor Pro 2 to record my mix, it takes me an additional 3-4 days (including school, studying, and work) to have it recorded to my satisfaction. Those last 3-4 days is when the frustration kicks in due to constant retrying if I screw up lol. |

this!
while i take an average of 2 hours like previously stated, ive been at this game for 12 years now, so i tend to know exactly what im looking for. yes some people may want to take 2 weeks or so, but you'll probably find they are relatively new. |

Why would you believe I don't talk to other people like this face to face? I'm blunt and honest, and don't have any qualms with telling people how it is. Some people don't appreciate it and that's fine, and there are those who understand where I'm coming from and will do the same to me and I appreciate that. They give me their honest opinions and thoughts and I appreciate that. |

What you see as shit talking is just me expressing my thoughts on certain subjects and I do help out when I can.
Your signature is a perfect example what what's wrong with the current DJ community. You'll follow other people on soundcloud only if they'll follow you? Maybe they're not following you for a reason to begin with, but are desperate to get followers themselves so they'll only "follow" to get the same in return, but more than likely they'll never check your page out again and vice versa.
Now, is this me talking shit? Not really, but the only reason some one would believe that is because what I said is true and I just called them out on their shit. Now, in order to try and save face, they'll just say I'm talking shit and make some attempt to insult me and be done with it.
The funny part is I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who believes like this, but everyone else is afraid to speak freely with out getting some backlash for saying it.
Well then I apologize for the comment, an idea you may begin to try to use is to not ever say anything in a thread in response to anyone in a way that you wouldn't say to them in person. Your comments (to my mind) generally come off as assholish (for lack of a better term) and make you sound like an internet troll and (not that I'm an old school or indispensible member of the community) something that DJranking
s doesn't seem to have and really doesn't need.
Again I apologize and hope that I didn't come off like an asshole, I just thought that your earlier response (and other responses that I've seen you make) came off like you were degenerating anyone that doesn't make a mix without any planning or fine tuning. |

Just cause you take extra time to polish something (some people are just perfectionists...), or try different ways of getting two tracks to flow into each other, etc. does not mean that they're bad at mixing.
Also people get busy with stuff... I've got a chill out mix that I've been meaning to record for like a month now, just haven't gotten around to it cause I've been busy with exams, and life.
Also about just hitting play? Well, when that happens... there's usually no audience, just you and your gear
... you're free to play whatever you want... in some ways it's kinda easier with a crowd cause by reading them it tells you what kind of track to play next, when you just hit play you're free to play with the flow of the mix all you want.

Takisha Hodulik 07.05.2011 | my spring one was made over the coarse of 2 months between school and everything else. I am fine live giging, i jsut want my mixtapes to be near perfect |
Latoria Kavulich 07.05.2011 | the last show i did for sato radio had to be basically smack on 60 minutes so that toook a bit longer than usual, had to use lotsa cues and lazy mixing for that one. the cd length ones i guestimate 5 mins per tune run through and tweak my timing if necessary. |

follow me/follow you is a twitter thing aswell, and soundcloud is effectively twitter with noise, a musical community. Following each other expands your network and theirs. would/do you have the same reaction on there?
also, how can someone follow another if they don't know about their existence? by being followed it facilitates the opportunity to follow back. until a few days ago my followers out weighed my following til I pulled my finger out and followed them all back, and subsequently learned of other people.
Attacking peoples content is just uncalled for imo. why are you like this? so anti anything that doesn't suit you? not enough attention as a child? no friends at school? |
