synths
synths Posted on: 08.12.2008 by Marco Piangiamore hey guysi know that strictly speaking this isnt the place but thought someone might know what im on about basically id like to get a synthesiser to go with my current setup (Xponent, nanopad and control). id like to be able to just play the synth through my speakers, but also to record on my pc and to use it as a midi control for triggers etc how can i accomplish these last 2 things? is it a case of 'need to buy an interface' or is there some sort of workaround (usb-midi cables maybe?) cheers guys, great community running here edit: should have mentioned synth in question is most likely a microkorg or something of that region, any recommendations? :P | |

Roberto Viccione 09.12.2008 | well, if you NEED an external synth (note, most synths can be used as MIDI controllers also), I'd say go with The Novation Xio. I'm not a big fan of the MicroKorg cause the keys are too damn small. :-) |
Xavier Emanuels 09.12.2008 | Ever thought about using softsynth ? Its cheaper, lighter, its easy for your controller to have multiple uses(even several different synths on the one control), if your drop the controller you wont break the synth, only the midi controller. |
Marco Piangiamore 09.12.2008 | main priority is a synth, but if i could also use it as a midi controller that'd be good... |
Roberto Viccione 08.12.2008 | well, you can get an interface and a synth. Do you want a synth or a MIDI controller? |
Marco Piangiamore 08.12.2008 | with regards to the budget, not too high, and ideally as cheap as poss ill probably get a microkorg purely for just playing with; being able to record etc would just be a bonus and i was wondering how it would be done cheers |
Holley Cora 08.12.2008 | I personally LOVE the MicroKorg as it has a built in vocoder which sounds sexy paired up with a TalkBox. Can be used as a midi controller as well. It is a bit on the expensive side though. |
Roberto Viccione 08.12.2008 | can you give us a budget? |
