Recreating stab sound
Posted on: 03.11.2009 by Marybeth Sansbury
Hi guys

My question is simple, the answer might not be..
I was just listening to a danish rap/pop song and i wanted to recreate the stab sound.
The sound is only used in a short part, beginning at 1:38 in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xO0lxh29Eo

Any toughts on how to do this?
I've got ableton suite and reason to work with.

Thanks

yeah its defo a synth sound, very quick attack and release to make it short and stabby, and with a high speed oscillation through it to give it that slightly vibrato sound.

It has a bit more of a digital feel than an organ sound.. a BP filter might work.. still can't get the repeating element in the sound right tho

Rather than trying to figure out how to build, I believe you should start with an organ sound and filter it (high or bandpass I suggest first). Might need some phaser, flange, chorus or similar, but you won't be too far away after a few minutes I believe.
