Dutch House style track
Dutch House style track Posted on: 27.05.2010 by Dung Domingus Hey all. Don't really post here much even though I LOVE DJTT and constantly lurk. I am working on this track for an EP I want to release sometime this summer. The track was mixed on shitty speakers/ isn't mastered, but you can get the general picture. Feedback is GREATLY appreciated. Likes? Dislikes? What do you believe would make the track better? Thanks a lot in advance.http://soundcloud.com/kid-quest/ep1-draft-2 | |

Georgine Thanos 30.05.2010 | Good start! Here are some of my thoughts... If you truly want to recreate the dutch house style then you need to get the percussion down. Dutch house percussion has this sort of swinging syncopation, either in the toms, the snares, or some other sort of drum. Listen to the snares (or whatever those drums are) in the Afrojack remix of Moombah. Also I believe you need more tension in your builds. Go a little crazy. This is something I struggle with too, making bigger builds. And as the others have said, some atmosphere might do you well. Little sounds to make the track unique. Search Rusko master class on youtube; he talks about this and I found it very useful! Oh, and just a thought, but pitch your synth up an octave? If you want dutch house then it should definitely be higher. And perhaps thicker and brighter, but I'd have to hear it up an octave to tell. |
Giselle Kawalec 30.05.2010 | sounding good bud! i agree with jpv! needs a lil bit more going on! sounding good so far! keep up the good owrk -Tom |
Dreama Brehon 28.05.2010 | Great sound. I agree that the drums need tweaking. I would also recommend adding something the the main hook, to give it a bit more atmosphere. What set up do you have? Logic, Reason? |
