OT: MPK25 with Cubase 5

Ok, I'm falling back on my DJTT brethren for this one.

Akai MPK25 Controller... pads, buttons, and knobs appear to be working fine, but I can't get the transport controls to work for the life of me....

I apologize in advance if this topic is far reaching for the community , but I'm struggling with this.

I'm on a few Cubase and Akai community s, but for some reason no one has a solution to what I believe is a pretty easy issue to resolve for some seasoned producers. There are some solutions, but with mixed results.

Thanks to anyone that helps me out.

Regards,

Nos.

If anyone's interested, I found the solution...

I found it on a community and quickly copied it and pasted it in an email to myself...thanks to whom ever this post belongs to...

On the menu bar Transport>Project Synchronization Setup here are the
selection that need to be made to get the Transport to work

1.Timecode selected MIDI Timecode

2.Midi Timecode Source selected your connected MIDI device in your case
Akai MPK61.

3. Master Machine Control Device
Check MC Master Active
MMC input - Akai MPK61
MMC Out - MIDIOUT 2 (Akai MPK61)
MMC Device ID - All
Number of Audio Tracks - thats up to you

4 MIDI Machine Control Slave
MMC input - Akai MPK61
MMC Out - MIDIOUT 2 (Akai MPK61)
MMC Device ID - 127

5.MIDI Timecode Destination
Check AkaiMPK61

6.MIDI Clock Destinations
Check AkaiMPK61

Check the rest of the selection below MIDI Clock Destinations.

On Akai MPK61 hit EDIT then anyone of the TRANSPort buttons push the Enter
button to the right of the display and make sure MMC/MIDI is selected push
the enter again to confirm your selection Finish!!!

BTW Don't forget to save your setup under Global settings

you can map them in cubase but its really awkward, read up on the midi device manager
within cubase, i last tried it with cubase sx1,

i dont know why steinberg the inventers of vst (virtual studio technology)
havent manages to implement midi learn. maybe see if there is a mackie hui map for the akia, i use a hui emulation on a bcf2000 for cubase sx3 and dont have to worry about the
midi device manager anymore.

another solution is to buy a usb numeric keypad, the transport and cues are contolled by the numeric pads,

you might be able to use bornes midi translater to take the akia transport midi data and convert it to numeric key strokes, probably easier than using the midi device manager
