Writers Block... So... lets face it, all producers have been there at some point... what do you do to combat writers block? I am currently working on 2 tracks, and for both i have hit a wall... The first one is quite a good track in my oppinion, and its about 2/3 done... but there is still that 1/3 of the track i dont know what to do with... Second track, ive come up with a really good beat/groove... and whatever i come up with in terms of bassline/lead, i feel doesnt do the beat justice... so i scrap it and try again... and its really frustrating because i want to do something with this beat but nothing i do seems to work right, sure some of the stuff i come up with is OK, but nothing spectacular... just average stuff your likely to hear every weekend in the club... and i want this track to be above average... Sometimes i get on a roll with certain tracks and i basically finnish it within a day or 2... and sometimes, it takes weeks and drags on and on, and yeah... sometimes i hit a wall... so what do you guys do when you get stuck with a track your working on? it would be interesting to see other peoples ways/methods of combating writers block... some of mine... usually i allways leave the track for a while or few days and come back to it later, in the meanwhile... 1. play some Xbox 2. go into town and do something interesting/ get some fresh air 3. go have a bender out on the town 4. Do a DJ mix or 2... sometimes sparks some inspiration 5. make some new custom presets on my synths/softsynths (sometimes come up with cool new sounds and then decide to use them for a track im stuck on) 6. start a new track (usually ends up being counterproductive for the track im stuck on though ) | |
