Upgrading studio!
Upgrading studio! Posted on: 05.06.2011 by Soo Lui Hey guys, I'm currently on the look out for some hardware to add to home project studio. At the moment i'm running an iMac 24" 3.06 GHz Duo Core, 4GB Ram for my main production rig, with pro tools 9 software, 003+ rack interface, UA 710 Twin Finity Pre and Genelec 8020A monitors, Shure SM7B/SM57, AT 2050, Sennheiser E902/E906 microphones. As far as softsynths go i'm currently using NI Massive, Sylenth1, Omnisphere and occasionally NI Absynth. I'm looking at investing in some hardware! Mainly hardware synths but maybe another Pre and a compressor. The synths i've been looking at are the Moog Little Phatty, DSI Tetra/mopho key, Clavia Nord Lead X2 Rack. As far as compressors/pres go i'm pretty in the dark i know the FMR products are really nice, and i was interested in a ISA one for a very long time, but i'd like some pro advice if thats cool? So yeah guys, what should I buy? I'll be returning from Paris on the 26th June, and then i get paid the following week so i'll have about | |
Soo Lui 05.06.2011 | Seeing what the CV port's can do on the Moog has shot it to the top of my list, i've been interested in one for a while the giant bass sounds really do it for me since i'm going for a electro-house kinda vibe with most of my stuff, i don't know how bothered I am about adding the slim phatty to make it poly though, doesn't really seem to bring anything more for the money than i couldn't get from getting a Tetra & a Mopho key, i can get all 3 synths for less than |

Breana Singerman 05.06.2011 | Dave Smith is never a bad choice, but I believe for the little extra it costs for the Slim Phatty it's still worth it. More control and just a better overall sound in my opinion. |

Breana Singerman 05.06.2011 | The Moog Little Phatty is an awesome synth to get, plus if you get one with all the CV mods already installed, you can make a semi modular system with their Moogerfoogers. Here's a video just to show what you can do with them, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkm-2OuIOhI And if you're really ambitious, you can sync it up with a Slim Phatty so you can have a poly Moog! Here's a video showing the possibilities for that, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-O1bVe-3UU For the price, the quality and the flexibility it provides I believe this is an awesome option for getting into the world of analog synths. |
