Ableton Specialists: Ableton DJing & Punch-In Effects Help? Posted on: 12.07.2011 by Romaine Moakler Hey guys,So I recently decided to create my own DJ template and I was inspired by Ill.Gates Template with the punch in effects for the M-Audio Trigger Finger. Since I have NI's The Finger I was wondering how I can possibly use my pads to trigger the effects and manipulate the audio. Here's what I have so far: Session View Djing w/ MPD 24 1 Channel Deck A (Audio sent out to EXT 1/2 on Audio 4 DJ) 1 Channel Deck B (Audio sent out to EXT 3/4 on Audio 4 DJ) As you can see, I mix externally and have saved my faders and pots for effects. If I can get the punch in effects working I can use the MPD 24 encoders for other things and possibly an internal mixing mode. I use Bank A of the MPD for triggering clips on deck A and B. Bank B is used with midistroke for mouseless navigation. I'd like to use Bank C for triggering effects with The Finger. So my questions are: 1) Is it possible to do what I just mentioned with the Finger Setup as a separate effects channel? 2) How do I get the audio from each deck to go to the channel with The Finger so I can use effects on the audio? 3) Once audio effects are done, how do i route it back to the EXT 1/2 and 3/4? Btw to me, punch in effects are effects where I can hold down a pad and the effect occurs and when I let go the effect stops. I know the finger is capable of doing this with midi keyboards so I'm assuming if I use the same MIDI notes on my pads I can use the effects as stated. Sounds like a challenge to me, but I'm sure you Ableton geniuses have found a workaround for it the second you finished reading my set up. So school me please! Thank you! -Alessandro Savage | |
