Hello everyone!

Im a dnb producer and im going deep and deep everyday inside the world of music production.
But now i'm facing some problems on hardware/software, and i want to ask here some tips.

1. About Audio card or interface.

1.1 Do i need an external audiocard for my macbook pro?
Im producing with the built in audiocard of the mac, but someone told me that with an external audiocard i will have a cleaner and better sound, and i will hear some frequencies on the monitors that i cant hear with the built in.

It is true?

If yes, which kind of audiocard do i need? Dj audiocards are not for producers, exactly?
Is the Macbook pro Built in audio card enough?

1.2 If i'm using a pc tower, can i use a pci audiocard? it is enough the audiocard built in on my motherboard Asus?

1.3 I'm facing some overload with multiple Massive and drum racks on Ableton. 8.1
An external audiocard on my macbook pro will help the processor in anyway?

If yes, which kind of audiocard or interface do i need?

Sorry for all the questions but there are a lot of products on the net called "audiocards" and dont know which i need for produce music with a DAW, and if i need one at all.

2. About Monitors.

Someone suggested me to buy monitor with at least 5" sub, because i need all the frequences possible for produce good drum and bass.

It is true?
If yes which are the cheapest monitor i can buy (but good enough for produce good music)?
He suggested me krk rookit 5 has the entry level, saying to me that everything else behind is crap. What about Alesis M1 Active 520?
Esi near08?

thanks for all the advice.

hardware means absolute shit when it comes to the audio quality of a file. a digitial file will be the same no matter what hardware is playing the audio.

now when it comes to production yes an audio interface helps alot, you get better audio quality coming out the speakers which is great, which will help you mix your tracks

i would personally recommend a good pair of headphones and a presonus interface to start... then eventually you can upgrade to monitors. now for headphones/monitors, you have to try out different brand s find out what sounds best to you, but i do recommend, krk, m-audio, mackie, and most of all dynaudio monitors (only for the rich rofl)

i started off with my desktop computer and 10 dollar headphones, now i use a presonus fp10 along with a pair of bx8a monitors and a bunch of other stuff...

You could use the built in soundcard for a tower pc but it should be one of the better ones...asus makes decent ones. But then you have the problem of it not being portable etc...I picked up the audio kontrol 1 to serve as my production card.

As far as monitors go, 5 inch sub isn't really going to give you a full frequency range anyways. Probably down to 60 hz but alot goes on from 30-60hz.

You might be better off buying reference headphones first and save up for some nice monitors.

KRKs are good for the price but they are really meant for dj'ing IMO. They do not give you a flat true signal for production.

Really you just need to spend more money to get monitors, so if your going to go cheap you should just get headphones. But the audio card will still clarify the headphones.

I would say if you are not using any mics, guitars, instruments etc....just get the audio 2 from native instruments and a good pair of headphones.

You could also get the KRKs just as a second reference. Its always good to have multiple forms of hearing your mixes.
