Extracting vocals from a song

Hi guys,

I have a question for you. Is it possible to extract a voice/vocal from a song in ableton? Do you guys know any tutorial for that?

I'm trying to make a sort of mashup from very different parts off very different songs... Sometimes i need a basic tune other times just the voice. Can anyone help me with that?

Many thx !

There's some 'Center Channel extractor' (whatever they call it) VST. Their performance is from bad to poor depending the way the track is made.

One way to do it is to have the instrumental and the vocal one. Both MUST have the same pitch, volume, Spectrum... EVERYTHING. You need to reverse the phase of one, then mix them. Still, the result is from bad to decent.

Nothing beat the real acapella, but sometime the DIY option + mastering job + background track do a fair to excellent job.
