Logic Pro with External sound card
Posted on: 10.09.2011 by Wava Egizi
Hi!

I am trying to set up my Logic Pro with my external sound card Lexicon Alpha.

I start Logic, and everything seems fine. It sounds fine... But after aprox 1 minute the sound that comes out of my headphones sounds sooo bad. It really sounds like the sounds is broken. It sounds good for a minute, than breaks down.

I guess this is a common problem, and I have searched Google, but that didn't help me.

How should I set this up?

No... This happens only with my external sound card! It is not just in Logic. The sound sounds broken in all apps.

The CPU meter is no problem. Thank god!

I have increased the buffer size... And yesterday I had a long Logic session.. Without any problems... But today when I started Logic again, the sound was broken from start, and I had to reboot the sound card and restart Logic. After that it worked.

Really annoying. Anyone know why this happens?

Look at the CPU meter, if it's hitting red you have issues with the latency. You could increase the buffer size. If not your system is just too slow for whatever plug-in/work flow you are using Logic for. If this sounds garbage, do Internet searches on the keywords I mentioned.
