The drivers are like 40 or 50mm, which means they don't have any sub-bass response, but no headphones do. Monitors are just plain better, and you can get them for not too much money. But, the issue is that it's not just monitors. A pair of 8-inch studio monitors and a 10-inch studio sub probably starts at around a grand-ish. And then you have to re-arrange your room to give them the space they need to sound right. And then you have to acoustically treat the space to hear them correctly. The worst thing that happens with headphones is that you don't have any sub-bass response (you only hear overtones of your lowest sounds) and the stereo separation is exaggerated. Those are easier to deal with. Then, if you're producing on headphones and make something you want to release, just pay someone you find on a community to master it for you |

Marnie Foye 10.10.2011 | The honest truth is that headphones alone just aren't that great for producing or mastering. That doesn't mean you can't get away with it, but you just can't always trust what comes out of them. You'll also have to take extra care to ensure that your track sounds good in mono. A lot of beginner tracks produced with headphones don't translate well to the club because of the stereo. However, they can be great at helping with the sub. Look for headphones that have detailed lows. The HDJ-2000 are probably the best in this regard. If your main focus is producing I might just save the money up for low end monitors. I regret not going for the monitors first. |

Those Sony's and Sennies (the HD-25's at least) are more aimed at Dj'ing and don't really give the flat response requiered for proper producing. To be honest. I've been producing for the last year using only my headphones. Bought monitors last week and can't express how happy i am not having to wear my headphones all the time anymore |
Etha Caloia 10.10.2011 | ok so im believeing Sennheiser HD-25 which is super expensive or the mdrv6 headphones are they both good? are there any other headphones people believe are better than these??? |
Dorie Scelzo 10.10.2011 | one of the sony headphones. they're supposed to be the same except for packaging, stickers, and price. but, i haven't A/B'd them. whatever your speakers/headphones do badly, your mix will do well and vice versa, so headphones that are bassy will probably lead to underwhelming dubstep. |

Dorie Scelzo 10.10.2011 | MDR-7506 or v6 are great for the price. Sennheiser HD-25 are good, though a little more bass-heavy. |
