Beginner garageband and keyboard to learn piano?
Posted on: 11.10.2011 by Leona Baliey
Hi all

I've left my decks at my mates house because we constantly seem to be having parties there so in the meantime I thought that when I'm at home I'm going to try and learn the piano and eventually try and produce something.

Can anybody recommend a cheap but effective keyboard I can use to teach myself via the garageband lessons?

Also, I ahve to KRK Rokits which I usually connect with my mixer via XLR. I've got them either side of my monitor now and would like to use them with my MBP. If I connect an XLR from the rokits into my audio out of my MBP I got horrible noise. Should I connect them via my audio 8 with RCA's instead??

Thanks in advanced

When i was going to buy some KRK's i was told by the sales guy that i REQUIRED an external audio interface and the monitors werent worth it until i had it hooked up through once. ...to the point that he didnt even want to sell my the monitors. so i'd go through RCA's using the audio 8.

is production software important to you? if you pick up like an MPK49 or Novation Impulse i believe it comes with Ableton LE. if that is not important, i'd like at the m-audio keyrig or oxygen series. should be pretty affordable. although...when i played the keys back to back the cheap midi controllers to the expensive midi controllers there was a world of differnece in feel, even to a novice like myself.
