+1 on this. Also learning to separate people who actually don't like your stuff (beyond your skills). You can't please everyone.

Well that was all the truth.

It can be so hard to get actual feedback from people. Even if you point out things you dont like or want to change, they always want to tell you...Its fine or I wouldnt bother with that, its such a small thing.

I believe at the end of the day you have to be your harshest critic.
Give your ears a break and have a listen when its not so fresh in your head.

Excellent article bro, I like your writing style. Definitely a lot of truth in there. We come at things with such a bias, especially if we have put a lot of work/effort/tears into it, and it is hard to step back and view our creations with an open mind. Very relevant to this community , and hobby/passion/lifestyle we all share.

Amen!!! I learned a long time ago that to succeed as a photojournalist I would have to be able to take criticism from like minded people. I also learned that some people are idiots and have no idea what they're talking about. The hard part is figuring out which is which and keeping the good ones around.
