BPM little question

BPM little question
Posted on: 13.01.2012 by Neva Sparacino
Hi i just have a little question that its buggin me when i put a d&b song in traktor it says 175 bpm and when i go to ableton and put it in an audio channel
when warping i need to set the tempo to 87 and the complete track bpm too 87
I understand the logic of it (half) but its there any diferrence or can i put it in ableton in 175 without soundig incredible fast and without need of warping all the song?

Its ther producers that make song at those different bpm?

Those are different producing technics or just traktor and ableton having some marrital ishues?

How can i fix it if it can be fixed? (i know its not an error)

Thanks for anyone ho answer me

I dont need to know the real bmp dont care but i want to mix them in the same bpm both songs
ableton and traktor i mix with them both in sync like dj Endo explain in his video
it's just half the tapping speed dude. Can't be that hard. Instead of tapping 4 times you tap 2 to get to 86.

That will play it back at twice the speed. Not ideal .

I would use Traktor's tap function to correct the tempo . Just tap double or half the speed.

175'ish is correct for drum&bass, just in case thats part of the question.

i grid all my tracks from 100-199 bpm even if they're actually below 100 so it's easier to mash them up using sync-functions. also more tracks in the same bpm range.

This may not be the answer to your question but try this..

Play the song in a program that doesnt give you the bpm and tap your foot to it. You will either tap to 175 bpm or 87.5 and the one that feels more right is right.

Since 87.5 is half of 175 there shouldn't be a problem with using one or the other for this track as most programs recognize one song is double the speed.

I hope this helps
