I got the email today, and on the question of having something specific on the imports declaration I tried to find the thread on frontpage where someone pointed to a weblink where it was explained that a midi controller is not charged because it is not an audio device.

Now I can't find the actual post back but perhaps for the international people a good idea to mention that extra on the label?

EDIT: Found the actual post. Someone mentioned to label the package as follows:

"To make sure buyers in the EU don

I just got an Email "Click-N-Ship(R) Notification" by USPS_Shipping. It seems that Ean shipped the VCIs with USPS. I really wonder how much duty I will have to pay for mine...

Yes, the upgrade kit is about 3 weeks out? Depends on the overlay company that is making the custom sticker.

Sorry to be MIA guys, but yes we got the first 50 over the weekend! I have been busy getting them ready to go. They will go out tomorrow and then tracking numbers will be sent out.

in terms of shipping, I believe we will be using united states postal service or UPS and tracking will be available.

That is absolutely good news Ean, thank you for doing all that hard work! I don't believe anyone could ask for any more! You have done everything I personally hoped for. Now I'm just looking forward to round two :] ...oh, and lowering the declared value also helps some inside europe

Hey everyone- WOW- I am exhausted! Who would have known that shipping 500 pounds of gear around the globe from a 3rd floor apartment would be so much work! 3 days straight- even the post office guy looked at me like I am nuts.

So here are some updates:

The first 50 went out today via USPS
Everyone should be getting notification by tomorrow
Yes, USPS might take a bit longer but its less expensive for everyone.
Yes, I indicated that the device is a USB class input controller with no audio functionality on ALL of the boxes. I also lowered the declared value to try and save those outside of europe some money.

The TKS file is posted here and I will be posting a tutorial video on the functions in the next week.

Ean,

Hope we hear something tomorrow, I know we're all wondering once DJTT received the VCI-100SE from Japan and when the units are shipped.

Thank,

That'd be cool if it related to when we actually bought them - might be a pain to figure out though?

So you will do some personal numbering in a random way, or in sequence of payments/order?

Ean, you the man.

22.05.2008
Yeah you are correct.

You shouldn't have to pay duty as its a usb device.

There was a post in one of the articles about Black VCI's where someone had actually found the category they will fall into and we shouldn't pay any duty.

I cannot wait for mine.

22.05.2008
Wahey.

Does anyone know if import duty is payable on these for the UK? I was hoping they'd go in the same category as keyboards/mice.
