Firmware update mod.
Firmware update mod. Posted on: 17.12.2009 by Lilliana Perris Hey. I have been struggling to get my VCI100 upgraded. I have two adapters. No dice. I cant get it into boot mode. It was suggested that i hardwire the adapter by making extensions to the adapter plug and then solder the extensions to the VCI100. Obviously i will remove it when done and use a solder sucker etc. I am pretty good at it. My question is....has anyone else attempted this? Thoughts? Advice? Thanks. | |

Lilliana Perris 17.12.2009 | yeah yeah. Been through the steps many times.....know it off by heart now. I have 2 serial cables (straight) and used a desktop PC (tried 2) and get the same result each time. Either the one deck stays red or it just starts up as per usual. I don't believe the adapter is connecting \seating correctly. By JUST seating the adapter (no serial cables etc attached), the VCI should be able to go into boot mode. It doesn't. I chatted to Bento about this and he was the one who recommended the hardwire. That should DEF work. If not....then its the port on the VCI thats faulty. Whats the chance i got two bum adapters? I don't believe its that. I just want to know if anyone else has had to do this? ..........bugger..... |
Doug Bieling 17.12.2009 | What cables are you using ? Loadsa people had probs with USB ones. I used a proper serial cable and had no issues. |
